Unity through Diversity & Inclusion: It Begins with All of Us

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, in his final speech the day before his assassination, rallied with union workers in a church to speak out against corporate labor practices, as well as imagine an America he felt he would not live to see. Since then, words such as "Diversity" "Equity" Inclusion," "Belonging," and others have risen as definitions for his "beloved community." The term "Antiracism" was coined to drive even more rigor into the work of racial equity, and has been used for several years to describe a commitment to being against racism. But what does that mean, in action? Over the course of 90 minutes, Justice Informed CEO Xavier Ramey will provide insights on the connections between Kingian economic and social theory, antiracism, and the tactics required to evolve civic and corporate equity strategies. With years of experience in philanthropy, higher education, corporate social responsibility, racial activism, and community engagement, he will shine a light on how the calls for demilitarization, combating White supremacy, and taking a critical and revolutionary stance toward capitalism are the foundation of antiracist actions, as well as how the modern Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion supports or stalls progress for people and communities holding minoritized and marginalized identities. For more information on his work, and to prepare for this session, you may view several of his discussions on this and other equity topics at www.xavieramey.com/media.
