In Western culture, extroversion is the dominant preference for leadership. In contrast, introversion is an undervalued and overlooked characteristic, often presenting challenges for individuals who seek acceptance and community. It also has implications for identity groups whose cultural norms misalign with extroversion. This discussion will explore ways to reimagine introversion in the workplace. Participants will leave with historical context of how American society grew to prioritize extroverts and will identify ways to strengthen allyship for introverts to foster an inclusive work environment.
