Linda Newlin has worked for Nokia (formerly AT&T Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies, and Alcatel-Lucent) for 34 years as a software engineer, tester, and project manager.
Linda has been an active member with the IDEAL (Individuals Dedicated to Enabling Accessibility in Life), a 501c3 non-profit business resource group at Nokia, for 24 years, holding the offices of Secretary, Treasurer, and Historian for the past 20 years. IDEAL supports people with disabilities and their families. Linda’s involvement with supporting people with disabilities started when she learned sign language to communicate with a co-worker who was deaf.
Linda has also been an active member of the VALOR business resource group for seven years, holding the office of Secretary for six years. VALOR supports veterans and those currently serving in the U.S. Military and their families. Linda was instrumental in transforming VALOR from an informal club to a business resource group at Nokia, resulting in membership growth with new members spanning across the country.
Linda has coordinated many IDEAL and VALOR events that support people with disabilities and veterans, provide education and awareness, help create an inclusive environment in the workplace, and help those in the community.
