Haven is a seasoned Chief Human Resources Officer with 35 years of experience with Fortune 250 companies in the automotive, electric utility and printing industries. Haven currently is President of Cockerham & Associates, a human capital strategy company, and President of Stratus TMS, a human capital software development company. Previously he was Chief Human Resources Officer for RR Donnelley, an $8 billion print and communications company.

As the Chief Human Resources Officer, Haven led global human resources activities for employees in North America, Latin and South America, Europe and Asia. As the company changed its operating model and strategic direction to become a communications effectiveness company, he successfully led the transformation of the human resources organization to deliver greater service in the areas of executive and leadership development, performance management, succession planning, diversity and inclusion, and cultural transformation. Simultaneouslywith the shift to more value-added activities, the human resources function was successful at implementing a new delivery model that would result in a 40% reduction of cost. The new model was comprised of redesigned processes, elimination of non-value added work, implementation of a technology platform for employee and manager “self-service”, and finally, business process outsourcing.

Prior to joining RR Donnelley, Haven was Chief Human Resources Officer for DTE Energy that provided electricity for customers in Southeast Michigan. He played a central leadership role in guiding major corporate initiatives such as building a labor/management partnership, implementing culture and large-scale organization change, increasing organization capability and leadership development processes. Prior to DTE, Haven worked 20 years at General Motors in manufacturing and human resources, where he became a senior executive before leaving to purchase and operate a Chevrolet Dealership in South Carolina.

Haven’s board service includes, Presence Health, BMO Harris, Bartech Group, as well as several professional, academic and community-based boards. He has a BS in Economics from North Carolina A & T State University and an MBA from Michigan State University’s Executive MBA Program.
