Denise R. Cade serves as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of IDEX Corporation (NYSE:IEX) and has responsibility for all legal, regulatory and compliance matters, as well as the environmental, health and safety function. IDEX is a global applied solutions company specializing in fluid and metering technologies, health and science technologies, dispensing equipment, and fire, safety and other diversified products.

Ms. Cade has over 25 years of experience advising senior management and boards of directors on legal, strategic and operational matters. For nearly five years before joining IDEX in late 2015, Ms. Cade was Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer for SunCoke Energy, Inc. (NYSE:SXC, a 2011 spinoff of Sunoco, Inc.) and its controlled company, SunCoke Energy Partners, L.P. (NYSE:SXCP), which manufacture metallurgical coke used in the production of steel. The Legal Department, under Ms. Cade’s leadership, was awarded SXC’s highest honor in connection with the 2013 formation and initial public offering of SXCP, the only steel-facing master limited partnership. Ms. Cade was a member of the SXCP Board of Directors.

From 2005 to 2011, Ms. Cade was with PPG Industries, Inc. (NYSE:PPG, a coatings, specialty materials and glass products company), most recently as Assistant General Counsel, Securities and Finance, and Corporate Secretary. She also served as Chief Mergers and Acquisition Counsel and General Counsel for the Glass and Fiber Glass Division during her six-year tenure at PPG.

Ms. Cade sits on the Georgetown Law Alumni Board and the Board of Trustees of the Chicago History Museum. She is also a member of The Executive Leadership Council, The Chicago Network, The Executives’ Club of Chicago and the Economic Club of Chicago. Ms. Cade was honored by Savoy magazine as a 2015 Most Influential Black Lawyer and was selected as one of Chicago United’s Business Leaders of Color for 2015.

Ms. Cade began her legal career in private practice, specializing in corporate and securities law matters and corporate transactions. She was a partner at Shaw Pittman LLP in Washington, D.C. before her move to PPG in 2005. Ms. Cade received her B.A. from Marquette University in 1984 and her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1990.
