Valeria Bailey is General Counsel at Rand McNally, serving on the executive team that has transformed the Chicago “map maker” into an industry-leading provider of electronic navigation and mobile fleet management solutions for the commercial transportation industry, as well as technology products for the specialty travel markets. As head of legal affairs and human resources, Valeria provides a broad range of legal and strategic guidance in areas such as intellectual property, corporate law, risk management and employment relations.
After graduating from New Orleans’ Tulane University Law School, cum laude, Valeria’s legal career started at DLA Piper and Seyfarth Shaw, followed by corporate counsel positions at LaSalle Bank, Bank of America and Accenture. In 2012, Valeria was honored with the ‘Most Powerful and Influential Woman of Illinois’ Award by the National Diversity Council. Valeria has also been recognized by the First Chair Organization as Top General Counsel in 2013 and 2012. Valeria is a frequent speaker and panelist for a variety of organizations including the American Bar Association, the Wickford Group and Accenture’s Corporate Citizenship initiatives.
Valeria is committed to a variety of volunteering efforts for local and national causes and has brought personal dedication to many efforts, including Chicago’s “Ladder Up” Tax Assistance Program which provides tax preparation support for low income families and the Greater Chicago Food Depository. While working at Accenture, Valeria continued her deep personal commitment to diversity and corporate citizenship efforts with her involvement with the Accenture’s Diversity & Inclusion and Senior Center Initiatives. She was instrumental in growing the “Day at Accenture”, a program designed to provide students from local high schools with real life practical skills to achieve success in their academic and professional careers. Locally, Valeria holds leadership roles in Evanston school PTAs and supports the Evanston McGaw YMCA’s youth programs.
Valeria enjoys long bicycle rides with her family, skiing in the Alps and testing her limits at CrossFit in Evanston.
