Ms. Mayes is responsible for driving systemic executive and professional talent intake systems and strategies, on campus college and university relations strategies, leadership development and organizational effectiveness opportunities across the enterprise for OfficeMax. Key areas of focus are on assessing and building future pipelines of talent to execute our business strategies, working with business unit leadership to determine business strategic direction, evaluating the workforce for current capabilities and producing curriculum, programs, and tools that addresses new and continued development needs throughout the organization.

Ms. Mayes joined OfficeMax in 1999 and served as general manager for the customer service center in Casper, Wyo. Subsequently, she held leadership roles in OfficeMax’s Supply Chain and Workplace businesses in the Chicago market. First, with responsibility for warehouse distribution and then as vice president, center and sales support providing operations support for all of OfficeMax’s business solutions sales force and award-winning call centers.

Ms. Mayes most recently served as vice president and brand manager of the Technology and Managed Print Services business for OfficeMax. In this role, she had responsibility for strategy development, supplier management, operational excellence, sales and financial results for both the business-to-business technology sales business, as well as the managed print services to our business customers.

Prior to joining OfficeMax, Ms. Mayes was a master-certified consultant and regional manager for Curtis and Associates, Inc. where she and her teams provided professional consulting and training services to state and federal organizations focused on helping people to gain independence.

Ms. Mayes is an expert in operations and a recognized people leader. She is passionate about mentoring — mentoring between 4-8 people at any given time. She was recognized in 2012 by the Illinois Diversity Council as one of the state’s Most Powerful and Influential Women.

Ms. Mayes has attended Notre Dame University, College of Mendoza, with studies in executive leadership, and has earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wyoming.
