Taste of Culture; Let Us Get the Check, Please!
April is Celebrate Diversity Month, started in 2004 to recognize and honor the diversity surrounding us all. By celebrating differences and similarities during this month, organizers like the Illinois Diversity Council hope that people will get a deeper understanding and appreciation of each other. This year we plan to host a celebration that honors a common diversity thread that binds us, which is food. We also want to stimulate economic recovery as dining establishments begin to open up again and doing so while remaining diligent in continuing to stay safe and healthy, and support local restaurants at the same time!
The Chicagoland area has a rich reputation that celebrates Chicago’s neighborhoods and culturally inspired cuisines. Our theme for the Celebrate Diversity Month event is Taste of Culture; Let Us Get the Check, Please! Another Chicago staple is our PBS member station WTTW, well we’re going to have some fun while doing good and mimic Check, Please! https://checkplease.wttw.com/ the multi-Emmy Award winning restaurant review program that began in 2001. The series features a rotating panel of three “citizen” reviewers that visit restaurants of their choice and those chosen by the other panelist and each gives their critiques. For our rendition you’ll have even more capability with take-out, curbside pick-up, delivery, outdoor and indoor dining options!
Taste of Culture; Let Us Get the Check, Please!
Step 1 – Register to participate by April 22nd
Step 2 – On April 23rd open your email from the ILDC with instructions on how to submit your desired culturally inspired culinary experience.
Step 3 – If you’re chosen to be 1 of 4 winners, you will be contacted the week of April 26. Your photo and profile will be posted on the event webpage and you’ll have 30 days to visit your restaurant of choice and we’ll capture and share coverage of your culturally inspired culinary experience. PRESENTING SPONSOR
