An Awakening of Awareness

In June, the Supreme Court blocked the administration’s attempt to end Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children (DREAMers), are amongst 690,000 young adults currently protected under the DACA program. This means that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) must continue to accept and process DACA renewal applications and should begin accepting initial (first-time) DACA applications as well as applications for advance parole. This is an important victory, however DACA is non-permanent and does not grant legal status and so the crusade continues! According to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), nearly 800,000 people have been approved through DACA and recipients make up 200,000 essential roles including 27,000 healthcare roles in the deepest part of the fight against COVID. In this compelling roundtable hear from DREAMers first hand experiences, community and social service advocates, educators, policy influencers and business leaders who are making an impact. In our quest to combat inequalities, here is an opportunity to educate yourself, fill the blinders that privilege has afforded and take on the armor of an Allyship. Join us!
